Outlook Tip: Updating the number of search folders

As I discussed in the previous post, I use search folders extensively.  I also mentioned a limitation that, by default, you can only have 20 search folders.

I forgot to mention this, but this setting can indeed be changed with a simple registry tweak on the client.

Add a DWORD value under [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Options\General]:

"SearchMaxNumberOnline"=dword:00000032

Download the reg file (setting it to 50, as above).

This also works for Outlook 12 (Outlook 2007) - just update the Key to the appropriate version.
