Visto suing Microsoft for Patent Infringement

More drama unfolds in the mobile messaging space.

Ryan posts on Engadget this morning that Visto is suing Microsoft over 3 patents that Visto holds over accessing and synchronizing data. This comes hot on the heels of a Visto-NTP settlement that Rob Hyndman says was really good timing. (And apparently those talks have been going on for awhile due to the complexity of the patents).

Relevant Links:

  • US Patent No 6,085,192: "System and method for securely synchronizing multiple copies of a workspace element in a network"
  • US Patent No 6,708,221: "System And Method For Globally And Securely Accessing Unified Information In A Computer Network"
  • US Patent No 6,151,606: "System And Method For Using A Workspace Data Manager To Access, Manipulate And Synchronize Network Data"

Visto is holding a press conference at 2pm EST ( details in the press release ) .
