ThinkPad X60 Tablet confirmed, available April 6th?

It looks like the ThinkPad X60s Tablet PC I mentioned previously might be more than a mistake after all. CoreDuoNews, the guys who discovered it in the first place, have now found a French retailer listing the unit for sale (to be available April 6th).

The device is listed for 2140 euro excl. VAT (a little less than $2600 USD) and will feature a CoreDuo T2400 1.83 GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 100 GB hard drive and up to 7.5 hours of battery life. Unfortunately, it looks like the device will still have an XGA (1024x768) screen.

This could be the next must-have tablet - and my next tablet, in spite of the glaring omission of a high-resolution screen.

CoreDuoNews also points out a listing for the ThinkPad X61, although no further details are available.

just wanted to update your news.
I ordered a new x41 tablet a few days back then stumbled upon your news of the new x60 tablet. It left me with a big dillema. So I did a little research.
I came upon the Information Systems Dept. (of this particular college) notice for their lecturers - regarding their laptop replacement program -  which indicates that the x60 will probably be available only at the end of the year.
take a look:

-Another point to consider though is the fact that the prices for the x41 tablet, in Lenovo's and other major ressellers has gone down in the past couple of weeks.
Hope this would help others as it did me!

techDot - thanks for that info.

Dave (http://slashstar.com/blogs/dave) also recently purchased an X41 and absolutely loves it.

The X60 seems great for those of us who are not immediately the market. I'm guessing that (if it has a high-res option), it will be my next machine. But if I were buying something today, I would probably get the x41 - instead of waiting and speculating on this device that hasn't even officially been announced!

With all the fuzz going about the eledged X60 tablet, lenovo would be just stupid not to release one! And X60t or X61t is sort of the logical name for it if/when it arrives, simply by looking at the history of the X series so far.

I am looking forward to the next tablet by lenovo/ibm, and I am definitely getting one (my boss is paying!!!!)

There are a few things that has me confused while reading all this "information" and "news" regarding the X60t:

Is it possible to have a dualcore low-volt CPU, or will it just be a singlecore?
Will it support up to 2gb memory?
Will it have a fingerprint reader as default?
Will it have the EV-DO/other mobile broadband card as default? For europe?
Why does the stipulated weight seem to be so different for different regions etc?
Will the new windows buttons shrink the ctrl/alt keys or just the spacebar?

I hated the windows button when Muicrosoft introduced it, but now I am addicted to it, and it is my opinion that the idea of having a button that trigeers only shortcuts in the OS is great! The fact that it has a Microsoft logo on it is modifiable ;) If the brains behind the IBM keyboard just shrunk the spacebar, than I guess I will like it :) (aftgerall the spacebare doesnt HAVE to be long).

I guess the soundest thing to do in lack of official news and specs is to  take the spec difference between the X41 and X41 tablet, and copying it to the X60s. This way you will have the closest imaginable thing to a X60 tablet.

If they release a Core 2 Duo with a high-rez screen in the X41 form factor, this would be absolutely killer!

Would really love to have a Tablet based on the ThinkPad X60! It is not only the faster CPU but also the 2.5 inch HDD which ist much faster (and biger) than the 1.8 inch of the X41-models that would make a big difference. I found some Information about tha X60 tablet on a german website: http://ip-web.de/ThinkPad/Tablet/index.html but they also could not tell me when tha new tablet will be on the market.
