My XBox 360 is Broken

Like Kevin, my 360 broke this week. I first got a blue checkerboard on my screen, and then today I got the three red rings of death. Microsoft is shipping me a box and it should take about 2-3 weeks total. Unlike Apple, no overnight shipping here, but hey - it is a bit bigger than my nano. The support experience so far was pretty good, but we'll see how it goes.

It's a little weird that my machine, along wth so many others, died now, considering Microsoft announced this new support plan and I had no problems for 9 months.

I guess I'll actually have to be productive over the next few weeks. Ugh.

Mine crashed all of the sudden too. I received the blue checkers shortly after downloading the newest update for COD2. Something tells me that if we all are experiencing "crashes", perhaps it has something to do with this patch? Did anyone else notice this when they downloaded the patch?

Tim, did you get your 360 back yet? I didn't get my original unit back; Microsoft sent me a refurb within 2 weeks and so far no problems.

Yes, I did just get it back on Friday and so far no issues - and they did replace, not repair it.

Still sort of curious that all of them seem to have died around the same time.

Justin, unfortunately I had to send mine back in. I haven't found anything that you can do to fix this issue yourself. (As I mentioned, they replaced my unit - the SN was different).

Aaron, you should definitely get a new one. Because you've only had it a month, you might try bringing it back where you bought it (that is, if you bought it in a physical store).

KC - if it's not working, I would recommend calling up Xbox support - they may still replace it if there are problems with the console.

As you may know, they recently upped the warranty to 3 years which means that all consoles are covered until at LEAST next year.

had my 360 for about a month as well. I was in the middle of playing a game and all of a sudden i got the three red rings and error. I had sent it back to them and it  took about a month until I got it back. Within no time mine went back to red ring again. I didn't feel like waiting another month so the next time I searched google and found www.videogame911.com. They specialize in xbox 360 repair and they had my system back to me in about a week. I have had no problems since. I'll post again if anything happens to go wrong.
